NETWORK ADMINISTRATION:
ITS Team, Inc. experts will manage your network so that
you have less interruptions and minimum downtime. With
an ITS Team, Inc. member on your team, business can continue
in an efficient and productive manner.
We will respond to network emergencies quickly OR even
troubleshoot some problems over the phone within minutes!
Features:
- Scheduled visits to perform routine network administrative tasks
- Check the server’s security log for unauthorized attempts to sensitive network data
- Verify media backup system is functioning normally
- Verify antivirus software is updating
- Monitor hard disk space
- Check for open relays on your mail server
- Review your firewall logs for unauthorized access attempts
- Check server event logs for errors
- Test your servers UPS system with a simulated shutdown
- Update network documentation with recent network related adds, moves, or changes
Benefits:
- Routine reviews of your server(s) security log will alert you of any unauthorized attempts to access your sensitive corporate data. These periodic reviews can help you address security concerns before they become a serious issue or worse a compromise of sensitive corporate information that could lead to serious liability issues for your company.
- Restoring data from a backup tape or other archive media is the only way to be certain the data written to an archive media is recoverable and functional. ITS Team network engineers as part of a monthly scheduled administrative task will run a random sample of your backup media to make sure this data is readable and restorable.
- Making sure that your antivirus software on your server(s) is automatically updating itself with the latest antivirus definition on a predetermined schedule is a must. New virus threats are released onto the Internet daily. Keeping your virus definitions up to date is an important part of your overall security defense strategy for your corporate network.
- Checking and logging disk space usage is another important function performed during our monthly schedule maintenance. Knowing how much and how quick disk space is being consumed is part of our proactive approach to keeping your network healthy.
- Spam is a huge issue with almost anyone who uses electronic mail today. Many spammers scan the Internet for mail servers with “open relays”. Once these mail server’s are identified, spammers then exploit SMTP (Simple Mail Transport Protocol) engines on these unprotected mail servers to canvas unsuspecting mail recipients with unsolicited electronic mail. Left unchecked, “Open Relays” can lead to some or all of the following detrimental results:
-Slow email server performance due to the load encountered by thousands of spam email being sent out.
-Your mail server’s IP address could be added to several antispam black lists resulting in other Internet Service Providers blocking you from sending email through their servers and their DNS domains. This means emails you send to people you frequently do business with could be rejected because your mail server’s IP address is black listed.
-Adding insult to injury, your business could also encounter serious legal liability for non-compliant email solicitation based on new anti-spam legislation.
- Reviewing your firewall logs is an essential part of your overall security strategy. Identifying patterns of access attempts can alert you to a more serious threat and allow you to take security counter measures. In addition, the ability to log and demonstrate that you are saving these logs is an essential part of the new HIPAA requirements for protecting sensitive data.
- If you are running a Windows based operating system checking the event logs on a routine basis is essential. There are many self diagnostic messages that are written to this log when services perform certain tasks. These event logs also show critical errors in a service or device that could need attention. Again, our engineers review these as part of their monthly checklist and investigate all potential problems presented by these logs.
- Your server(s) UPS solution is an important part of your network infrastructure as it is the gate keeper that, when functioning correctly, stop power surges from damaging your network hardware. Checking the working condition of this equipment is essential. Our engineers make sure the proper software is installed and working properly. In the event of a power outage, your server will shutdown gracefully. In addition, our engineers use the software to simulate a shutdown to load test the equipment and also to monitor the health of the batteries in the UPS system.
- Keeping good network documentation is a must and in addition, a good UPS solution and controls voltage to your equipment. If your WAN is built using a hub-and-spoke topology with a single Internet connection at the hub, you can direct all of your Internet traffic to route through the Internet connection at the hub site thereby reducing the amount of firewall needed to secure your network.
- There is nothing more critical than having a “Blue-Print” of your network. Without proper documentation of your network disaster recovery can certainly be a much larger and time consuming challenge and, in some cases, impossible. Good documentation also makes expanding and troubleshooting your network more efficient, thus saving you time and money. ITS Team will thoroughly document your network and provide a complete electronic and hard copy of this documentation to you. In addition, on our monthly maintenance visits we update the documentation with any adds, moves, or changes that are relevant to keeping your network blue-print up to date.
